About this Event
The Victorian Workhouses of London - institutions of destitution and dehumanisation, but what can the archives tell us about the reality of the workhouse?
Join us to discover how workhouses developed under the Poor Law Amendment Act of 1834. Using documents from LMA’s collections, we’ll explore the daily life of the inmates as well as the workhouse buildings of London.
After the talk there’ll be a chance to view some of our original Victorian workhouse and Board of Guardians documents. You will also be able to visit our Lost Victorian City exhibition for no extra cost!
