About this Event

We are all very excited to announce The Ghosts of Staunton Walking Ghost Tours in conjunction with The Society for Victorian Arts and Culture present our Victorian Ghostly Encounters Tour.

Join us as we embark on a short journey through part of Staunton's Gospel Hill district as we present part of the Queen City's Victorian past.

The Victorian Era, named for Great Britain’s Queen Victoria, was a time of tremendous change in both America and Europe from 1837 -- 1902. The Victorian America refers to the influence of Victorian period on the lifestyle, culture, religion and other aspects of America. The industrial revolution, the Civil War, the emergence of different architectural and literary styles were some of the major events and changes during this time period.

Our tour will focus upon the paranormal and supernatural during the victorian era. Mourning traditions, customs and beliefs are discussed as we walk along Kalorama Street (part of Staunton's Victorian Gospel Hill District) to your final destination, the Spotts - Coffman House, believed by many to be Staunton's most haunted house.

The house is believed to be haunted by Mrs. Charlotte Coffman and has been a regular and very popular stop on many of our ghost tours through the years. Now you will have the opportunity to go inside this incredible, historic, victorian mansion and learn of first hand accounts of paranormal, haunted activity. The house is not only believed to be haunted by Mrs. Coffman but perhaps many more personalities and individuals.

Our tour group will meet, assemble at 19 S. Market Street on the sidewalk in Staunton, Virginia just across from Hotel 24 South (Formerly the Stonewall Jackson Hotel). Your tour will last 90 minutes, the first 45 minutes are outside, the second half you will be inside the Coffman House.

Ghost stories, personal accounts and experiences will only be shared that involve Mrs. Charlotte Coffman and other individuals connected with the Spotts - Coffman House. Post mortem photography, spirit photography and paranormal portals and mirrors are just a few things presented on this unique tour.

Space is limited for this tour (24 guests per tour). This tour is an adult themed tour and available for ages 16 and up only. We do offer senior discounts (60 and older).

Pets are not allowed on this tour.

Our aim is to provide a quality tour that blends history and hauntings. We strive to educate, enlighten, and entertain you with our own unique blend of the paranormal, science, history, and local legend. Please arrive 15 - 20 minutes before the start of your tour.
