Victorian Crime Scene Walking Tour: See the familiar streets of Bradford in a whole new light

Step into the shadowed streets of Victorian Bradford, where crime, punishment, and scandal were part of everyday life.

On this guided walking tour through the city centre, you’ll visit real locations linked to 19th-century crimes - places where murders were committed, thieves were caught, and lives were quietly ruined. Led by an expert museum guide, the tour uncovers stories drawn from original records, revealing the harsher realities of Victorian life and justice.

Hear about Bradford’s own great train robbery, the case of three boys convicted of stealing crows in Wibsey, and Black Toppin, arrested for sheep theft in Westgate. You’ll also explore the disturbing death of Esther Neal, found above her corset shop on Darley Street, and uncover who was believed to be responsible. From notorious cases to forgotten crimes, this walk reveals a darker side of Bradford’s past - told in the very streets where it unfolded.

Optional Add-On: Walking Tour + Museum Visit
Make the most of your visit with our combined Walking Tour and Museum Tour ticket. After returning to the museum at 12:00, you’ll join our 12:45 guided museum tour, which includes access to the historic Victorian cells and courtroom. You’ll also have time to explore our gallery spaces, featuring both permanent and temporary exhibitions.
