Victims’ Rights: Navigating the Legal System and Support Pathways
Join us for an informative and empowering legal education workshop focused on understanding your rights as a victim of crime in Alberta, with a special focus on domestic violence situations.
This session will be facilitated by Sara Sicherman, Founder of Justice Pathway Consulting, who brings extensive experience in legal education and victim advocacy.
Participants will learn:
- What rights victims have under Alberta law
- What to expect when reporting to police
- Available legal protections (including protection orders and court processes)
- How the criminal justice system works
- Support pathways and community resources available
- Practical steps to take at different stages — whether considering reporting, in the process, or seeking support
This workshop will take a trauma-informed and practical approach, helping participants better understand their legal options while also recognizing the emotional and social realities involved.
This session is free and open to community members. Registration is required.
