Vicki Swan & Jonny Dyer are inspired & enchanting performers They both sing. Vicki plays Scottish Smallpipes, nyckelharpa, flute, Border pipes & double bass; Jonny plays guitar, accordion & low whistle. They play British traditional & Swedish music & their own songs & tunes. Both have huge technical knowledge and skills.
Henry Purcell was one of England’s finest baroque composers, but you will find his music littered about in Playford’s Dancing Master. The workshop will visit a dozen or so of his tunes and show he was a tavern going session head. Written music will be available in advance. Chromatic instruments needed!

13.30 Tunes published after Purcell’s lifetime and a visit to the tavern and learn about Catch Club.

15.15 Last orders at the bar. More tunes and catches.
16.45 Finish
N.B. Booking is recommended as numbers are limited. Some music will be sent in advance, & maps & accommodation lists on request.
Access is by stairs with a handrail on one side. Assistance dogs only, please. We're in the John Harvey Tavern, Foundry Lane, Lewes BN7 2AN as the Elephant & Castle's function room is being redecorated in March.
