About this Event

🥾 ABOUT THE WALK 🥾

Step into the heart of the Chiltern Hills for a walk that feels like stepping onto a film set.

We begin in the picture-perfect village of Turville, instantly recognisable as the location used for the beloved TV series . With its tiny lanes, historic cottages and charming church, it’s one of those villages that feels almost too pretty to be real.

Not far from the village we climb up to the iconic Turville Windmill, perched high above the valley and instantly recognisable from the classic film . The views from up here are wonderful and it’s a great spot to pause and soak in the rolling Chiltern countryside.

From there the route winds through ancient woodland including Fingest Wood, Adams Wood, and Great Wood. If nature plays along, these woods should be carpeted in beautiful bluebells in mid-April — one of the most magical sights of the English spring.

Along the way we pass through the tiny hamlets and hidden corners of the Chilterns including Skirmett, with its charming village hall, and the estate village of Chequers, home to the UK Prime Minister’s country residence and an area that has appeared in scenes from .

Quiet paths, rolling hills, and classic English countryside accompany us as we loop back via Southend and through more woodland before returning to Turville.

Expect a day filled with:

✨ Famous filming locations

🌳 Peaceful woodland trails

💙 Hopefully spectacular bluebells

At 12 miles, this is a longer Adventure Geek outing, but the varied scenery, film history, and springtime woodland make it a truly memorable day out.
