The Stark County Sheriff’s Office Announces Veterans Food Drive
(Stark County, Ohio) – Stark County Sheriff George T. Maier is honored to announce the beginning of a month-long food drive to support the Veterans receiving services through the Honor Home in Canton.
The Honor Home Stark County is transitional housing for homeless veterans in Stark County that helps veterans through support and programming, while assisting them to procure permanent housing. There are two campuses in the County that can house up to 16 homeless veterans: one campus for male veterans and the other site is reserved for female veterans and children.
From Tuesday, November 1st through Wednesday, November 30th the Stark County Sheriff’s Office is hosting two collection sites for nonperishable food items to serve local veterans and their families. Items can be dropped off at the Stark County Sheriff’s Office Safety Building, 4500 Atlantic Blvd. NW in Canton; at the Concealed Handgun License office at the Stark County Sheriff’s Office Training Center, 143 1st Street SE in Massillon; and also, the Stark County Veterans Service Commission office, 2955 Wise Avenue NW, in Canton.
“We are proud to stand alongside the Stark County Veterans Service Commission in a joint mission to serve those who have served,” explained Sheriff George T. Maier. “Far too many of the brave men and women who have selflessly served our country are struggling. This is an opportunity for us to give thanks for their sacrifices and provide a helping hand.”
The community is invited to drop of nonperishable items Monday – Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. through Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Items will be collected and donated to the Honor Home following the conclusion of the drive.
Items that can be dropped off include pasta and sauce, canned vegetables, soup, crackers, tuna, mayonnaise, seasoning packages (taco, chili, stew, etc.), various condiments, breakfast foods (cereal, pancake mix, oatmeal, etc.), desert box mixes (brownies, cookies, cakes, etc.), snacks (such as chips, pretzels, etc.), individual serving powder drink mixes, and healthy kid-friendly nonperishable foods.
