About this Event

Veteran Career Connect Cohort (VCCC)

The Veteran Career Connect Cohort is a supportive, veteran‑led job search group designed to help you build a personalized 90‑day employment strategy in partnership with a Veteran Employment Specialist. Whether you're newly transitioning, seeking a career change, or returning to the workforce, this cohort will keep you focused, supported, and on track toward meaningful employment.

  • Collaborative employment planning with a Veteran Employment Specialist
  • Resume development and professional branding support
  • Interview preparation using the STAR method
  • Job search strategies and labor market insights
  • Peer support, accountability, and real‑time progress tracking
  • Rolling entry — veterans can join any week and receive a quick onboarding to follow the same structured process flow

Each biweekly session includes a check‑in on your job search progress, time to work on your SMART Plan and IEP, and support in navigating any challenges you may face.

  • Schedule: Biweekly (Every Other Monday)
  • Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Location: American Job Center – 2201 Shannon Pl SE, Washington, DC 20020

If you have your own laptop, we encourage you to bring it—this will make it easier to manage applications, update your resume, and save your documents for future use.

This is a free, in‑person event open to veterans and eligible spouses in the DMV area. Space is limited to ensure personalized support.

Reflect on your work history, values, and goals. Confirm DCNetworks, WDS meeting, JVSG enrollment, and begin your personalized 90‑day plan.

Choose Your Direction + SMART Employment Plan
Explore industries, research job outlooks, and set short‑term goals with support from your Veteran Employment Specialist.

Market Yourself Professionally + Complete Your IEP
Get resume tips, update your LinkedIn profile, and complete your Individual Employment Plan (IEP).

Interview & Job Fair Readiness
Practice interview questions, develop STAR‑based responses, and build your job fair checklist to prepare for the June 10 hiring event.

Job Fair – Real‑World Application
Engage with employers, practice your pitch, and gather feedback to strengthen your job search.

Post‑Fair Reflection & Barrier Removal
Review your experience, identify new barriers, update your SMART Plan and IEP, and set your next steps.
