Join garden historian Francesca Murray for our new study afternoon exploring the royal gardens of 17th and 18th century France, as told through the collections of the RHS Lindley Library.Discover pioneering gardens from this period and the innovations which characterise their design. We'll be taking a look at garden design, plant selection, gardening tools and even musical fountains, before considering the influence of these gardens today.
This session will be made up of a lecture by Francesca, followed by a tour of selected works from the RHS Lindley Library collections, including books by Antoine Dezallier D'Argenville and Jean La Quintinye, and artwork by Claude Aubriet.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions throughout this session. There will be regular breaks, and light refreshments will be served.
