📢 UMPRUM Visual Arts master’s program in English: A Little Party Might K*ll Somebody.Máte niekedy pocit, že dnešná politika je len zlý vtip? Lenže nie je. V inom svete alebo možno ešte pred desiatimi rokmi by sme sa na tom dokázali zasmiať, dnes nám skôr zamŕza úsmev na tvári. A predsa sa k humoru stále vraciame. Niekedy nás podrží a dodá silu, inokedy len zjemní ticho pred pádom.
Výstava 𝐀 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 prináša pohľady študentstva magisterského programu Visual Arts na UMPRUM v Prahe. Z rôznych medzinárodných perspektív reflektujú aktuálnu politickú situáciu na Slovensku. Rozklad demokratických princípov pritom nie je ojedinelý ani výnimočný jav pre náš kontext. Výstava odhaľuje paralelné svety manipulácie, zahmlievania a tlaku. „Malá párty“ tak môže znamenať čokoľvek od nenápadného politického vplyvu na kultúru až po tichý súhlas, keď radšej odvrátime zrak.

When looking at politics today, do you also sometimes feel as if you are watching satire? Except you aren’t. It could be funny in a different universe, or maybe 10 years ago, but it isn’t here and now. Nonetheless, we still use humor and amusement as a way to deal with this grim reality. It can either help to cope and empower, or it can create lightheartedness in the face of oblivion.
In 𝐀 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲, artists from the Visuals Arts master’s program at UMPRUM in Prague reflect on the current political climate of Slovakia, from their own international perspectives. Politicians are undermining democracy, and this is not unique to Slovakia. In this exhibition, we find parallel realities of repression and obfuscation. ‘A little party’ can then be understood in many different ways, from political influence on cultural funding to being complicit by looking away.
