About this Event
What to expect (all times are estimated): 15 minute pre-hike chat; 90 minute hike to the top; 60-90 minute lunch; scientific discoveries, math challenges, and photography; 60 minute hike down.
- Pre-hike discussion: what are some fun facts we already know about the rocks?
- Hike Upper Table Rock (2.5 miles round trip, 720 ft elevation gain - much less rigorous and more vernal pools than Lower Table Rock)
- Free exploration connecting history to present
- Picnic lunch at the top (pack your own)
- Vernal pool "science lab"
- Apply grade-level math concepts to make predictions and estimates (optional math challenges - kids work in grade level groups to answer math challenge questions)
- Document protected plants and animals (and all the fun we are having) via: photography, videography, and/or sketch
- Return Hike

Packing Suggestions:
- (These items are not required, but will be fun to play with!): Measuring tools, camera, drone, waterproof endoscope, handheld digital microscope, notebook, pencils, sketchpad, water, lunch, snacks.
- There are outhouses at the base, but nothing along the hike or at the top. Come prepared!
- No dogs or bikes allowed
Parents/guardians must accompany their children. Friends/siblings welcome.
