About this Event
This session introduces participants to the use of the Velocity templating language in the context of Cascade CMS. During the session, we will cover the basics of the syntax independent of Cascade, the use of Index blocks to visualize how Cascade stores information in XML frameworks, and finally, the use of Cascade-specific tools and variables for generating pages and other outputs dynamically.
Topics Covered:
- Pure Velocity: Declaritives, If-Else, Arrays, Hashes, Macros.
- Index Blocks & XPath: Visualizing the XML; Use of the XPath Tool to traverse an XML file.
- Cascade-Specific Velocity: Built-in Variables, PropertyTool, coding for Breadcrumbs/Macros
- An Iterative Approach to Building Components
- Other Key Tools: QueryAPI, LocatorTool, EscapeTool.
Format
The training is conducted remotely from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (ET) on Tuesday, January 28. Attendance information will be sent to all participants during the week prior to training.
If possible, each participant should arrange to have two screens; one for viewing the presentation and a second for following along with the demonstration.
Important Information
- This training is for developers and webmasters currently working in Cascade CMS.
- Space is limited to facilitate effective training and time for questions/discussion.
- A maximum of two users per organization will be allowed.
