About this Event

Vanguard Court Studios and Camberwell College of Arts Studio Residency Award

Vanguard Court in partnership with Camberwell College of Arts is offering a Fine Art graduate (BA, MA graduating 2024) or recent alumni (graduates from 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) a twelve month rent-free studio. In addition Camberwell College will provide 100 hours access to the college resources, and financial support towards an exhibition. The Award culminates with an exhibition of work at Camberwell Space. The award winner will collaborate with the college’s Public Engagement’s team to produce the exhibition and create a programme of student and public activity that sits alongside it.

This is the fifteenth year of the residency previously awarded to the artists Murray O’Grady (BA Sculpture 2010), Philip Li (BA Ceramics 2011), Phillip Booth (BA Painting 2012), Lauren Allen (BA Painting 2013), Alex Deveraux (BA Sculpture 2014), Queenie Clarke (BA Drawing 2015), Billy Crosby (BA Painting 2016), Rosie Ward (BA Sculpture 2017), Gwenllian Spink (BA Drawing 2018), Isobel Finlay (BA Drawing 2019), Niccolo Binda (BA Drawing 2020), Amir Dehghan (BA Photography 2021), Robin Pickering (BA Painting 2022), Stella Pearce (BA Painting 2021).

Vanguard Court Studios are located in a mews directly opposite the college. For the last thirty years they have housed a vibrant community of artists and craftspeople. They specialise in high quality fine art, design and crafts. Studio-holders include ceramicists, jewellers, stained glass and textile artists, photographers, painters, sculptors and creators of other process-led work. There are a number of internationally established artists and makers in the yard.

The winner is asked to donate one piece of work created during their residency to the Vanguard Court collection and is also asked to take part in the Vanguard Court June and December Open Studios events to the extent possible.
