Ahoy, archers, toxophilites, and other twangsters!Coming on Sunday 2nd March 2025, The Vanguard Centre is hosting another archery tournament to give extra challenges and competitions to our existing archers, to break the ice with other archery clubs and archers around Glasgow, and of course: finding out who amongst us is the best shot! We are now happily running a small tournament such as this every season, so there is always something to be practising for throughout the year.
This event will be run over a series of rounds at different ranges, with formally organised groups of competitors shooting at each distance for multiple ends, and accumulating scores.
For this competition, instead of the established Vanguard Nonsense League* scoring, we will be following a version of the Archery GB Indoor scoring method. Competitors will be scored on individual scorecard spreadsheets, which will be updated throughout the competition with supervision from the Vanguard staff acting as judges.
As per usual Vanguard Archery events, loaner equipment will be provided included in the entry costs, if needed. Competitors are welcome to use their own equipment for the competition, subject to safety check by the staff at the start of the event. Please ensure any maintenance and servicing on personal equipment is undertaken in advance so there is no interruption to proceedings unless absolutely necessary. It is advised competitors bring at least 9 complete arrows and replacement nocks and heads for the same make and model to effect replacements and repairs as necessary. A setup area will be provided for construction and maintenance of bows and other equipment.
*... our regular informal, in-house competition is called "The Nonsense League", because it doesn't really matter and doesn't follow any established archery competition conventions... but the No-Nonsense Cup does matter, and is as close to an ArcheryGB event as we can make it!
