About this Event
Into the Shadows website
Vane Tempest Hall is located in the university city of Durham and has a long and complicated history dating back to the 1860's.
The Hall was originally built as a Militia Barracks and served as headquarters for many Army units. In the late 19th-century the Hall took on a new role and became an isolation hospital for patients with smallpox within the Durham area. The stables were re-purposed to accommodate these facilities which includes a "dead room" where the bodies of the victims were stored.
In the 20th-century, the Hall continued it's military persona serving as a lookout for German threats during WW2.
It is said that the spirit of a disfigured soldier haunts the Hall, whilst his story is not fully known, it is thought that the soldier lost his life during an explosion in the late 1800's. Many paranormal enthusiasts have been left visibly shaken after witnessing his apparition wandering the corridors.
Stories of a "White Lady" are also a renowned local legend. It is said the lady had a love affair with a soldier stationed at the Barracks but when he lost his life, her spirit returned to look out for her long-lost love.
Apparitions of darker entities have also been witnessed, one is said to resemble a clown terrifying all who have encountered it.
Will our team be able to find out their stories when we visit this amazing location?
