YOU'RE INVITED! The Vancouver Labor Temple was the dream of Vancouver unions in 1909. When the doors opened on May 1, 1912 the building at Dunsmuir and Homer was a spacious, central space for 56 affiliated unions with a total membership of 8,000. Still standing at 411 Dunsmuir Street, labour eperienced some great achievements and crippling challenges.On May 1, 2026 join us to recognize the foundational role of Vancouver's Labor Temple in the evolution of today’s union movement when the building is added to the Places That Matter registry by the Vancouver Heritage Foundation] .
There will be brief speeches, followed by plaque viewing and light refreshments at Marie’s Café in the Labor Temple. Limited seating will be available.
