Join the Vancouver Academy of Music Chamber Players as they perform Mendelssohn’s masterpiece, the beloved String Octet in E-flat major, Op. 20.Written for four violins, two violas and two cellos to be performed 'in the style of a symphony', this sparkling work was composed when Mendelssohn was only 16 years old. Brimming with youthful energy, the octet blends Classical form with early Romantic expressiveness, establishing itself as a cornerstone of the chamber music repertoire.
Also featured on this program is Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49, composed in 1839, in a 'Schumannesque’ style and the vibrant String Quartet No. 3 in D major, Op. 44.
