Vacuum Glazing CPD: Future-Proofing Heritage Buildings

Vacuum glazing is one of the best technologies that many architects, conservation professionals, and construction specialists still know very little about.

We want to change that.

Vacuum Glazing UK Ltd. is taking its CPD events on the road, starting in Cambridge on 18th June, 1 pm to 4 pm.

This session will explore how vacuum glazing can help improve the thermal performance of listed and historic buildings, without compromising the slim profiles and traditional aesthetics that make them special.

It is thin enough to replace single glazing.

It can achieve U-values as low as 0.34 W/m²K.

It comes with a 25-year warranty.

And unlike gas-filled units, it does not gradually lose efficiency over time.

So why has vacuum glazing not seen wider industry adoption?

We think the answer is simple: not enough people know about it yet.

That is why we are bringing together industry specialists to share practical knowledge, technical insight, and real project experience.

What will the CPD cover?

You will hear from:

Christopher Procter, architect and author

Christopher is the author of Climate Emergency Toolkit and Heritage Sash Windows Best Practice - Vacuum Glazing. He will share expert insight into vacuum glazing in the context of heritage buildings, retrofit, and climate responsibility.

Jeff Guest from Gowercroft Joinery

Jeff will discuss planning applications and how to gain approval for heritage projects.

William Green 1st Vacuum Glass Ltd

William will be providing an in-depth introduction to vacuum glazing and its growing role within modern and heritage glazing applications.

The session will cover

• What vacuum glass is,

• How the technology works,

• How it compares to traditional single to triple-glazing.

Plus, gain an understanding of cost comparisons, key applications within residential and commercial projects, listed buildings, conservation areas, and retrofit schemes.

Jamie Green 1st Vacuum Glass Ltd

Jamie’s session will cover the correct installation techniques for vacuum glazing, including: the dos and don’ts of handling, glazing, transportation, setting blocks, and frame preparation.

You will learn about recommended installation products and materials, including:

• Glazing tapes

• Packers

• Sealants

• Compatible framing systems

• Maintaining thermal efficiency and avoiding unnecessary stress on the unit.

The presentation will show you where retrofit applications are possible and the practical limitations that you should consider in your projects.

By attending, you will receive:

✓ A CPD certificate

✓ An insulated mug and water bottle

✓ Refreshments during the event

✓ The chance to win one of 10 signed copies of Christopher Procter’s book, Climate Emergency: Heritage Sash Window Best Practice

✓ Entry into a prize draw to win one of 3 fully funded trips to China to see the LandGlass factory in action

Whether you are an architect, conservation officer, construction professional, property developer, or window and door specialist, this event will give you a clearer understanding of vacuum glazing and its role in future-proofing historic buildings.

Once you understand what vacuum glazing can do, you may never look at heritage retrofit the same way again.

Join us in Cambridge on 18th June, 1 pm to 4 pm.
