About this Event
Healthcare work asks a great deal of those who do it—clinically, emotionally, and personally. In the midst of complexity, urgency, and loss, it is often our colleagues who help us carry on with the work. This panel will feature healthcare workers reflecting on colleagues who made a meaningful difference in their work lives—through presence, support, mentorship, or shared humanity. Through storytelling and dialogue, panelists will explore how relationships among colleagues sustain us, shape our professional identities, and help us navigate the emotional weight of caring for patients. The conversation will create space to honor these connections, reflect on what it means to both give and receive support, and consider how we can intentionally hold one another as we continue to hold the work.
Panelists will include: Charlie Magee, MD; Latashia McLeod, LCSW; Tina VanDerveer, MSN; and others.
Target audience includes: UVA Health physicians, nurses, APPs, social workers, and other healthcare workers and learners.
Lunch for the first 60 people provided.
After an 18-month hiatus, the Compassionate Care Initiative and the Office of Team Wellbeing are excited to re-launch the Schwartz Center Rounds (SCR) at UVA. Schwartz Center Rounds are interprofessional panel-based discussions that allow for healthcare workers to reflect and share about how they are affected by their work. The goal of the program is to foster and support empathy, collaboration, and compassion for self and others. The new co-leads for SCR at UVA are Jessica Dreicer, MD; Novella Thompson, MA, MA, ALM-C, FACHE; and Hannah Crosby.
