Celebrate the Sun’s celestial ascent – a symbol of renewal, grace, and enlightenment, brought to life through the sacred art of Bharata Nrityam. As the sun begins its northward trajectory, the period of Uttarāyaṇa ushers in renewal, energy, and spiritual awakening. This celestial transition, revered in Indian tradition, symbolises enlightenment and receptivity – a time when nature and human potential align in harmony. ‘Uttarāyana Mārgam’ captures the essence of this sacred passage, paying homage to Lord Suryanarayana through movement, rhythm, and expression. This dance-theatre production is a confluence of devotion and artistry, where mythology and philosophy come to life through dance. Infused with the vitality of Vasanta Ritu, it explores themes of transformation and grace, celebrating the Sun as the eternal source of life and knowledge. At the heart of this production is Aishwarya Harish, an artist whose lineage spans five generations of performers. Trained from an early age under her mother, Guru Dr. Jayashree Rajagopalan, she has mastered the intricacies of Bharata Nrityam – from the Karanas of the Natya Shastra to the art of Nattuvangam and choreography. Recognised for her excellence with awards like Shingar Mani and Nrithya Shivali, she has performed at prestigious festivals, bringing both technical finesse and profound expression to the stage. Beyond her performances, Harish is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of artists. She leads the Tilak Nagar branch of Nrithyodaya and integrates Bharata Nrityam into educational curricula, ensuring that this ancient tradition continues to evolve while staying deeply rooted in its origins.
