Join us at the Museum on Tuesday, December 10th at 5:30 pm for an update from Utah Raptor State Park Manager Josh Hansen who will deliver a park and programmatic presentation, addressing the park’s opening date, status of construction, interpretation, and more!About Utahraptor State Park:
In the 2021 legislative session, the Utah State Legislature passed HB 257, which created Utahraptor State Park, located roughly 15 miles northwest of Moab in Grand County. This new state park includes popular recreation spots such as the Dalton Wells and Willow Springs areas. Utah State Parks believes that — with proper planning and coordination with partners — they can better protect the area while maintaining its recreational value.
Park visitors to the area can expect one modern campground, flush restrooms, showers, office and entrance station/visitor center, and trailheads for access to the nearby OHV and mountain bike trail systems. With 7,466 acres encompassing the park there are over 50 miles of motorized trail within the state park boundary. Park visitors will also be able to enjoy interpretive displays of the Dalton Wells CCC Camp, the Moab Citizen Isolation Center, and paleontological discoveries from the quarry found within the park boundary such as the Utahraptor. Come hear Hansen talk about construction progress and park features.
