Let's Sketch the City Scapes of Downtown Wilmington! ~~Parking: on street or closest parking garage, 212 N. 2nd Street.
~~Check In & Throwdown: front of the newly finished NHC Public Library (corner of Grace & 3rd Sts.) to check in with Joey & Agatha. Walk from there to find your favorite scene, building, architecture, skyline or facade to sketch.
~~Remember your sketch is "artistic reportage", a story of your observation, not a painting. It can be loose, wobbly, whimpsical, woonky, abstract or realistic. it can be created in pencil, ink, markers, watercolor pencils/crayons, watercolor, gouache. Try a limited color palette, create a monatone or 2 color scene.
~~SUGGESTED HOMEWORK: Since we will be creating "city scapes", practice perspective exercises and vanishing points (find online). Draw a few boxes with right angles for the sides, adding a few windows, doors and roof. Focus on major forms and simple shapes, fewer details.
In case of moderate or heavy rain an alternate location will be announced on Mon, Mar. 30.
