About this Event

Using Imagery and Metaphor in Teaching and Self Work with Brooke Lieb

Imagery creates or re-creates an experience in the mind that filters into our lived experience. From my earliest lessons, I would see images or moving pictures in my mind correlating to the sensations and instructions my teachers gave me. As I started to teach, I continued to get these "movies" in my mind as I saw and felt changes in my students. I have always wanted to make Alexander Technique simpler and more accessible for every kind of student and for many of my students, imagery has been very effective. We will explore types of imagery and metaphor that help illustrate and demonstrate the concepts and skills of Alexander Technique. You can create imagery through language, by showing pictures or with animation or video. Come prepared to try on some of my go-to ways of using imagery, share your favorites, and perhaps create your own during the workshop.

You will want space to sit, stand and lie down for some of our explorations.

Complimentary tickets are available to any teachers, trainees and students who identify as Black, Indigenous or Persons of Color (BIPOC). Our community is enhanced by an abundance of diversity and diminished without it. Email us at [email protected] for your VIP code.

ABOUT BROOKE LIEB
