Discussion with arboretum staff.
A Sand County Almanac, by Aldo Leopold, is one of America's most important works on conservation. It predates Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, but together with it forms one of the pillars of the environmental movement begun in the 1960s. In addition to the 12 monthly essays, be sure to read "The Land Ethic" found in Part III.
The Bloomwood gate opens at 1:00 p.m., so please enjoy a walk before we begin.
We'll have snacks and beverages, and you're welcome to bring your own.
Note that trails are natural and hilly, and restrooms are not available.
Please leave pets at home.
