About this Event
Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this hands-on session introduces the fundamentals of sketching from life in a relaxed, supportive environment. You’ll explore essential techniques such as composition and line work, while learning how to bring your drawings to life with perspective and depth. Through guided exercises, you’ll practice sketching real spaces and scenes, building confidence in your ability to interpret and record everyday surroundings. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a stronger foundation in urban sketching and a fresh way of seeing the world through your sketchbook.
The workshop is led by Eliza Dunaway, a Charlotte-based artist and avid urban sketcher, who brings her passion for drawing on location and keen eye for everyday details to each session.
Each workshop will run for 2 hours. Workshops are free, and all materials will be provided.
No experience required. Beginners welcome.
This workshop and the Urban Sketchlenberg urban sketching workshop series are sponsored by Culture Blocks— a community partnership funded by Mecklenburg County.
