About this Event
Urban Sketching Workshop with architect and artist, Jane Leach
Come join us for a fun and creative Urban Sketching Workshop led by chartered architect and artist, Jane Leach. This hands-on event will take place around the Manchester Christmas Fair, where you'll learn the art of capturing urban landscapes on paper. For beginners and sketchers keen to learn to draw like an architect.
Learn the art of capturing urban landscapes on paper through a structured series of creative exercises.
We will build from techniques that develop your hand-eye coordination, free you from perfection paralysis and help you overcome the common fear of the blank page, and progressing to consider composition, scale and perspective drawing.
Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned sketcher, this workshop will help you to improve your sketching skills and draw like an architect.
Bring your own drawing equipment. An A4 pad of paper, a soft pencil (2B or softer), and a fineline pen is a great minimum to begin with.
Feel free to bring other paper sizes and different types of pens - thick, thin, biro, and brush felt tips, as well as any other mediums like watercolours, charcoal and pastels that you would like to experiment with.
Meeting at Manchester City Art Gallery main entrance. At the end we'll go for a brew in a local cafe to debrief and get final pointers to improve your drawings for next time you go out to sketch.
