About this Event

Grab some colored pencils and paper and join kid book illustrator & author Carolyn Fisher and Alberta Wilderness Association conservation specialist Kennedy Halvorson at St. Patrick’s Island for a 2 hour walk with frequent stops to sketch. All ages and levels of experience welcome. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.

For this nature sketchwalk, we’ll draw to observe nature and humans living side by side. We'll look at the ways that industrial activities affect watersheds. And we'll find out how waterways shape our land and our lives. We’ll jot our impressions and play creative games, all while taking a leisurely wander through St. Patrick’s Island in the Bow River.

This walk is held in conjunction with the Alberta Wilderness Association, which hosts regular events in order to celebrate and conserve Alberta's natural spaces (https://albertawilderness.ca).

WALK NOTES: Steep slopes, uneven terrain, busy sidewalks, fun for kids, breaks offered along the way, no dogs please (except service dogs)

MEETING SPOT: St. Patrick's Island, exact location to be announced to walkers closer to the date.

YOUR WALK LEADERS: Carolyn Fisher and Kennedy Halvorson

She draws inspiration for her work from all the passionate, dedicated, and diverse individuals that make up the conservation community.
