Urban Ocean Story Lab Celebration & Community Film Screening
When: Saturday, August 15, 2026 | 5:00 –8:00 PM
Where: Aquarium of the Pacific, 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, CA 90802
Join us for an evening celebrating the creativity, storytelling, and environmental leadership of Long Beach youth at the Urban Ocean Story Lab Celebration & Community Film Screening.
Over the summer, students participating in the Urban Ocean Story Lab will explore Long Beach’s urban ocean through hands on field experiences, documentary filmmaking, and environmental investigation. Working alongside mentors and filmmakers, participants will create original short documentaries highlighting stories connected to our waterways, wildlife, pollution, stewardship, and community connection right here in Long Beach.
This special community event at the Aquarium of the Pacific will premiere student films created throughout the summer program and celebrate the voices of young storytellers working to better understand and share the story of our urban ocean.
Guests will have the opportunity to:
- Watch original documentary films created by local youth
- Meet student filmmakers and program mentors
- Learn more about Long Beach’s urban waterways and environmental issues
- Celebrate people and place through youth storytelling
- Enjoy food and refreshments with fellow community members following the screening
This program and event is made possible through support from the City of Long Beach Youth Power Participatory Budgeting initiative and local community partners.
