An Urban Nature Walk is a mindfulness walk through the city, appreciating the nature we see along the way. Helen utilizes a holistic approach involving science, spiritual symbolism, aesthetics, mental and physical health to connect with, enjoy and understand the birds, trees, plants, lizards, bugs and squirrels that live along the sidewalks of the Bywater Neighborhood.
Helen is an Urban Naturalist and an Urban Nature Witch. She is a certified Master Naturalist, a board member for the Native Plant Initiative of Greater New Orleans and a practicing Augur (Bird Divination). She spends her mornings walking through her neighborhood, the Faubourg Marigny, greeting the birds, neighbors, trees and community cats. Her life’s work is to help others notice and appreciate nature in the Urban Setting.
Nola Sidewalk Gardens and Forests is an organization that works to promote healthy ecosystems in the Urban Environment through inspiration and access to local resources.
