River Sweep Kayak Paddle – Upper Pasquotank RiverJoin us for a meaningful day on the water as we paddle and help keep our local waterways beautiful! This group meetup will be a river sweep, where we’ll collect litter along the route right from our boats.
Date:Saturday, May 9, 2026
Meet Time: 9:00 AM (please arrive a little early to unload)
Route: Bingham Road to Morgan’s Corner Road Bridge and back
Distance: 4–4.5 miles round trip
What We’re Doing:
We’ll paddle at a steady, manageable pace while stopping along the way to pick up trash. It’s a great mix of light adventure, community effort, and time outdoors.
We’ll Provide:
* Litter grabbers
* Trash bags for collection
What to Bring:
* Your kayak/canoe (BYOB – bring your own boat)
* Paddle
* PFD (life jacket)
* Water & snacks (you’ll want extra for this one)
* Gloves (recommended for litter pickup)
* Weather-appropriate clothing & footwear
* Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)
* Dry bag (recommended)
* Good energy & willingness to get a little dirty 😊
**Good to Know:**
* Plan for a few hours on the water—we’ll finish once the sweep is complete.
* This is still a relaxed, supportive group environment—no rush, just teamwork.
* Please be mindful of safety while collecting debris (we’ll avoid anything hazardous).
* Keep an eye on the event page for weather updates.
Let’s make an impact while enjoying the paddle! Drop a comment if you’re in or have questions.
