About this Event
Congratulations on your admission into SFU for Summer/Fall 2025! If you are applying for your study permit from outside Canada, this session is for you. Here are the details:
- WHAT: Updates and Q&A session for outside Canada study permit applications.
- WHO: This session is for new international undergraduate & graduate students who have been admitted to SFU for Summer/Fall 2025 and are applying for their initial study permits from outside Canada.
- WHEN: February 28, 2025, 18:30-20:00 pm (PT). If you are not located in the Pacific Time zone, please feel free to utilize this time zone converter tool.
SESSION TOPICS:
- Brief updates about the study permit application process;
- Answers to commonly asked questions on the study permit application forms and tips on submitting a strong application (e.g., how to prepare a study plan, proof of ties to your home country, proof of funds); and
- Q&A with an International Student Advisor, Immigration Specialist.
- The main portion of this presentation (with the exception of the Q&A portion) will be recorded, and the recording will be made available later on our webpage here.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
The workshop is to facilitate a Live Q&A period with an International Student Advisor regarding the outside Canada study permit application process.
To better prepare and participate in the live Q&A period, attendees are expected to review the following resources before the session:

Think about any questions you may have and submit your inquiries when you register. In addition, the live session will give you the opportunity to have your questions answered by an International Student Advisor, Immigration Specialist.
