BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND AND UPDATED CONTENT - Moving to Biliteracy: Program Development for Dual Language and Bilingual Programs

This highly interactive, two-day virtual institute is designed for district- and school-level teams who are planning to launch, refine, or re-focus dual language and biliteracy programs. Whether you're supporting one-way dual language, two-way immersion, maintenance, or late-exit bilingual programs, this institute provides the systems, structures, and leadership tools to move toward high-quality, sustainable implementation of biliteracy instruction and development.

Over live sessions, we will guide participants through:

  • Current research in bilingual and dual language education
  • Programmatic and leadership considerations for implementation
  • Systems and structures that support effective biliteracy instruction
  • The Biliteracy Unit Framework for integrating language, literacy, and content
  • Development of biliteracy schedules, language and content allocation plans, curriculum maps, and more

Designed for teams!We encourage leadership teams to attend together to ensure a shared vision and decision-making—especially those in roles that influence program structure and sustainability.

Format & Schedule:

Participants will join two live Zoom professional development sessions

Live Zoom sessions:

11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. CENTRAL TIME each day

Highly interactive sessions featuring presentations, small group discussions, and planning

Note: Sessions will not be recorded

To ensure a smooth and engaging experience, each participant should have:

  • A webcam (video required for participation in whole group and breakout discussions)

  • An up-to-date computer operating system
  • A stable internet connection
  • A headset with a microphone or earbuds to help reduce background noise
