Update on Current Ophthalmic Best Practice for Opticians

Join us for an informative evening featuring specialist speakers who will explore current best practice, emerging treatments, and practical approaches to improving patient outcomes.

Mr Johnny Bonnar . Ophthalmic surgeon with a specialist interest in complex cataracts and Glaucoma.

Mr Bonnar commenced Minimal Invasive Glaucoma Surgery( MIGS) in Hillsborough Private Clinic at the beginning of 2025. He also commenced SLT( Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty) treatment at the end of 2025. This treatment allows a decreased need for long-term glaucoma drops.

His presentation will provide valuable knowledge in all the different types of Ophthalmic lasers used in Hillsborough Private Clinic.

Ms Elaine Fitzgerald . FBDO

Miss Fitzgerald’s presentation will provide massive insight into the premium lens and individual patient selection in particular. She will also be hosting a wet lab with IOL insertion workshop for attendees.

This will be a very enjoyable and interesting way of discovering the patient journey in pre-op diagnostics, theatre and beyond. This session will also include guidance and instruction in lens insertion.
