We will be making a GIANT JELLYFISH! From recycled materials from the beach.Workshop for children 10-13 years old facilitated by artists
Miroslava Vecerova and Natalia Janula in collaboration with The Compound.
What you’ll do:
Create a giant upcycled jellyfish sculpture! Using ropes collected from the local Stade beach, you’ll learn simple macramé knots, weaving techniques, and how to turn recycled materials into art. Together, we’ll design one big, hanging jellyfish sculpture full of vibrant shapes and patterns.
In the second part, we will turn their creation into digital art using a basic 3D photogrammetry scan!
Why jellyfish?
Hastings waters are home to fascinating jellyfish like moon, compass, and lion’s mane jellyfish. These creatures are vital to our marine ecosystem, and their unique shapes and flowing tentacles inspire this project.
Parents, relax and enjoy a cup of tea while your kids dive into creativity. By the end, we’ll have an amazing collaborative jellyfish sculpture, approximately 50cm x 2m, to display!
