About this Event
Join our 3-hour Upcycling Denim Workshop and transform your unused denim into chic, wearable pieces. This class is designed for beginner–intermediate sewists who have completed a Sewing 101 course or feel comfortable operating a sewing machine, cutting fabric, and sewing independently.
What you’ll create:
Choose from two designs:
• Underbust corset
• Vest
What’s included:
• Step-by-step instruction and guidance on denim upcycling techniques
• Custom sewing patterns for your selected design
• All additional materials and tools (denim not included)
What to bring:
• Your own denim pieces—jeans or any denim garments you’d like to upcycle (yours or thrifted)
What you’ll leave with:
• A custom upcycled garment made by you
• A personalized pattern for future use
• New sewing skills and techniques
If you don’t finish your piece during the workshop, you’re welcome to complete it later at home or join one of our Open Sewing Studio sessions for additional guidance.
Important notes:
• This workshop is not suitable for absolute beginners. Basic sewing experience is required.
• Please include your wearable size when registering so we can prepare your custom pattern.

Hi there! I’m Julia Medeiros, a seasoned professional in the world of apparel.
With over 20 years of experience under my belt (yes, I started early!) I've honed my skills as a tailor, pattern maker, and sewing technologist. Specializing in women’s clothing, and utilizing my One Fitting method, I’ve brought countless unique garments to life, turning my clients’ visions into reality. I have deep experience with teaching sewing classes around the world I am excited to bring my expertise to The Nest.
