Underground Performing Arts Collective (UPAC), in partnership with The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, presents Emily Mann’s Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters’ First 100 Years. On Sunday, May 3 at 3:00 PM, in the Taylor Ballroom, watch as 103-year-old Sadie Delany, played by Carla Monique, and 101-year-old Bessie Delany, played by Jennifer Kelly-Cooper, prepare a birthday dinner in honor of their father. Through reflection, humor, and remarkable memory, the sisters recount a century of American history drawn from their experiences as pioneering African-American professionals.
Their story is not simply African-American history or women’s history. It is our shared history, told through the voices of two extraordinary women whose lives spanned generations of change.
Directed by J. Travis Cooper.
