The Museum has more than 150 years of history and stories ready and waiting to be uncovered.
The Museum building was constructed in stages between 1865 and 1882 and served predominantly as the Post and Telegraph Office until the 1890’s. Between 1890’s and the 1960’s the building saw a variety of uses before transferring under the stewardship of the Illawarra Historical Society.
Every room is lined with artefacts from lives long gone, each one a potential keeper of residual energy and untold tales. Plus some artefacts will be made available during these tours that a not regularly on display in the Museum
