Residential Retreat with Tuere Sala
About this Event

The purpose of studying and practicing the Dhamma is to discover peace in the midst of suffering. This unshakeable peace is not dependent on agreeable external conditions; it is cultivated as an inner ground. It is the resilience that allows us to fully show up in the world, whether conditions are pleasant or difficult.

We tend to experience ourselves through the senses, which can make us reactive. This reactivity keeps us in constant movement. The cultivation of unshakeable peace invites an awareness of the heart’s natural stillness. When we begin to know ourselves through the heart, we can respond with wisdom rather than react out of habit.

During this retreat, we will explore the difference between living through external sense contact and trusting our inner knowing.

Each day will include practice instructions, alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation. There will be small group discussions, as well as time for questions and responses. The retreat will be held in noble silence from the first evening until the final day, including a request to turn off and put away all electronic devices. We warmly welcome people of all backgrounds and communities. This retreat is suitable for both experienced meditators and those new to residential practice.
