About this Event
.Digital Detox Day by the Sea
Somatic Movement & Creative Exploration
📍 Chichester Memorial Hall, Sandgate, Kent
🌊 One minute from the sea
Step away from the constant pull of screens and the rhythm of the digital world.
Give yourself a day to soften, slow down, and return to the quiet intelligence of your body.
Just moments from the shoreline, this gentle retreat day invites you to pause and reconnect through the Tamalpa Life/Art Process® and Somatic Movement. Through natural movement, drawing, and reflective writing, we will explore the language of the body and the creativity that lives within us all.
Guided with care and spaciousness, the day unfolds as a series of simple invitations — to move, to sense, to listen inwardly.
Together we will:
• awaken the body through gentle, intuitive movement
• explore creativity through mark making and reflective writing
• rest in moments of quiet reflection
• breathe with the rhythm of the nearby sea
There is nothing to achieve and nothing to perform.
No previous experience with dance, movement or art is needed — only a willingness to arrive as you are.
This day is an opportunity to step out of the noise and into presence.
A chance to unwind, restore your energy, and reconnect with your natural rhythm in a supportive and nurturing space.
✨ Let the sea air, movement and creativity guide you back to yourself.
✨ Expect a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where you can move at your own pace, rest, reflect and simply be.

What is the Tamalpa Life/Art Process®?
The Tamalpa Life/Art Process® is a creative practice that uses movement, drawing and reflection to help us reconnect with ourselves.
Developed by Anna Halprin and Daria Halprin at the Tamalpa Institute in California, the approach is based on a simple idea: our bodies hold our life experiences, and movement is a natural way to express and explore them.
Through guided movement, simple creative practices and quiet reflection, we listen to the body’s wisdom and allow insights to emerge naturally. There is no right or wrong way to move, draw or express — the focus is on curiosity, authenticity and being present.
You don’t need to be a dancer or an artist. The process is open to everyone.
Many people find that this approach can help them:
- reconnect with their body
- express thoughts and feelings creatively
- gain new perspective and clarity
- nurture wellbeing and self-awareness
At its heart, the Tamalpa Life/Art Process invites us to slow down, listen to ourselves, and rediscover creativity as a natural part of being human
