In Unmasking the Mask, the journey began with Topeng Keras. The next chapter continues with Topeng Tua, one of Bali’s classical mask dances.
Topeng Tua portrays an elderly man, expressed through a finely carved wooden mask traditionally made from ylang-ylang wood. With trembling gestures and nuanced movement, the dancer embodies age, humility, and wisdom.
Within the Topeng Pajegan tradition, this character represents the passage of time and lived experience, bridging human vulnerability and spiritual depth.
Through Topeng Tua, we are invited to witness not just a dance—but the embodiment of memory and devotion in motion.
