This special creative workshop begins with an inspiring illustrated talk by Maggie Hague and Trisha McGarry, exploring the fascinating history of costume jewellery and her unique role in supporting the hospital charity Love Musgrove. Maggie receives donated jewellery which she sells on behalf of others to raise vital funds, and through this work she uncovers some truly bizarre, surprising, and wonderful stories. Her talk offers a behind-the-scenes look at the hidden world of costume jewellery, including unexpected discoveries, unusual pieces, and her experiences working with auction houses.Following the talk, participants will take part in a 2.5-hour hands-on workshop led by artist Trisha McGarry, transforming costume jewellery into a one-of-a-kind art piece. You are welcome to bring your own jewellery to work with, but this is not essential, Trisha will provide a wide selection of materials. With clear, step-by-step guidance throughout, you’ll be supported from initial ideas through to completion, making the process accessible to all skill levels.
The session concludes with a beautiful, finished artwork for you to take home; an object that carries both personal meaning and creative expression, inspired by the stories and materials of costume jewellery.
After her talk Maggie would welcome receiving donations of unwanted/broken jewellery and watches towards her charitable work for Love Musgrove.
