About this Event

WORKSHOP FOUR - INNER MONSTER

Join Miriam for an interactive and imaginative experience where we’ll explore the monsters lurking within through the vibrant medium of watercolor. In this live, online workshop, you’ll begin by freely splashing and dripping random colors onto the page, letting go of any control or judgment. After creating these abstract shapes, we’ll use pens, markers, and pencils to coax your monster out of the chaos, helping it emerge from the colors in unexpected ways.

Here’s how it works:

The workshop will take place over Zoom, and all experience levels are welcome.

1. We’ll start with a warm-up exercise to loosen up creatively.
2. Next, you’ll apply watercolors spontaneously, using different techniques to make random shapes.
3. After the paint dries, we’ll move to the second phase: using drawing tools to bring your monster to life.
4. I’ll provide step-by-step guidance, tips, and personalized feedback throughout.
5. You’ll also have the chance to share your work, ask questions, and exchange ideas with fellow participants in real time.

Bring your watercolors, pens, markers, pencils, and most importantly—your imagination. It’s a lighthearted, supportive space to explore your inner world and discover what monsters may be hiding within.

FULL DETAILS OF THESE WATERCOLOR WORKSHOPS

Get ready for a watercolor adventure where rules don’t exist, and creativity runs wild!

Join artist Miriam Hughes in four playful, 90-minute LIVE, INTERACTIVE sessions that will show you how to unlock your childlike artistry* —with nothing more than three colors, one brush, and a heart full of curiosity.

In this workshop, improvisation is the name of the game. Forget sketching, forget planning, and definitely forget that voice in your head that says you’re not “artistic enough.” Whether you’re a seasoned painter or someone who hasn’t touched a brush since grade school, this is your moment to shine.

With Miriam’s expert (and totally fun) guidance, you’ll learn how to paint bold, vibrant scenes without overthinking or stressing. You’ll embrace loose, joyful brushstrokes and bring your creations to life in real time. The best part? There are no mistakes—just happy accidents and bursts of creativity!

Because here’s the thing… if you let your creative impulses fade into the background?

What happens if you don’t free up your creativity and take action on your impulses?

Maybe nothing at first. But fast forward 10, 20, or 30 years, and you might wake up one day and realize that you never gave yourself the chance to express that creative spark that’s been quietly whispering to you for years.

You may find yourself thinking, “What if I had just picked up that brush? What if I had trusted myself more?”

Regret is a heavy thing to carry—especially when it comes to your creativity. Don’t let it slip away.

According to a NASA study, creativity—defined as divergent thinking and problem-solving—is something we all start with in abundance. 98% of kids between the ages of 4 and 5 scored at a “creative genius” level. But by the time we hit adulthood, that score plummets to just 2%. Why? Because we let fear, perfectionism, and self-doubt take over.

If you don't nurture your creativity now, those doubts grow stronger, and the spark gets dimmer. And that dream you had? It may never see the light of day.

What if you don’t take the leap?

Imagine looking back, and realizing you never painted that picture, wrote that story, or embraced that quirky, joyful side of yourself because you were waiting for the “right time.” You don’t want to be that person.

You deserve to live a big, juicy creative life—one filled with radical silliness, vibrant colors, and moments where you get lost in the joy of your own imagination, just like when you were a kid. This workshop is your chance to feed your creative soul before it's too late.

What You’ll Get (Other Than a Ton of Fun):

Spontaneous Color Mixing: Who knew three colors could do so much? You’ll learn how to mix and match them to create vibrant, unexpected hues that bring your art to life.

Wet-on-Wet Technique: You’ll discover the magic of wet-on-wet painting, where colors swirl and blend right before your eyes—creating mesmerizing gradients and textures without a second thought.

Bold, Loose Brushstrokes: We’re talking big, free, and fearless! Forget precision—this is all about movement, energy, and letting your brush lead the way to artistic greatness.

No Sketching? No Problem! Who needs pencils when you’ve got intuition? Learn how to create depth and structure without a single sketch, and watch your art come together in a beautifully organic way.

Creative Finishing Touches: Add some spice! With a sprinkle of salt here and a splash of texture there, you’ll learn how to make your paintings pop in ways you never imagined.

Economical Art Tricks: Miriam’s got a trick (or three) up her sleeve—watch her save paper and maximize supplies like a pro. It’s art-making on a budget but with all the flair.

Why This Workshop is Perfect for You:

This isn’t your average watercolor class—this is FUN on a canvas. Whether you’re someone who loves getting your hands messy with paint or you’re curious about what it feels like to let go of control (spoiler: it feels great), this workshop is designed to unleash your creativity in the most joyful way possible.

Think of it as your chance to be playful, spontaneous, and maybe a little wild—with a brush in hand and a community of like-minded creatives at your side. No pressure, just pure, colorful joy.

By the end of this workshop, you won’t just have a beautiful watercolor painting to show off—you’ll leave with new techniques, a burst of confidence, and a big smile knowing that you can create without fear.
