After nearly two decades of project delays and budget overruns, NASA’s next flagship mission, the James Webb Space Telescope, successfully launched on December 25th, 2021; its first full-color images were released on July 12th, 2022. This presentation will put these exciting new images into context and give an overview of the capabilities and scientific mission of the telescope.Free tickets will be available to reserve at 8:00 AM CT on Friday 11/29.
In conjunction with the show, the UNK Astronomy Club will hold telescope observingoutside of Bruner Hall of Science @ 8:00 PM(subject to weather conditions).
Shows are recommended for engaged grade school students through adults. Shows are strongly discouraged for ages 2 and under. Please be prepared to turn off phones and smartwatches, remove lighted shoes, etc., so that all participants may enjoy the show in its intended dark, quiet environment. Please arrive 5 minutes before your show, or ticket reservations may be released to allow for walk-in attendees.
