About this Event
University of Leicester: Library Discovery Walk – Celebrating the National Year of Reading
Tuesday 12 May at 2pm
Meet outside the University of Leicester’s David Wilson Library
Around 90 minutes walk plus 30 minutes at Central Library upon arriving at Central Library.
Join us for a special Library Discovery Walk as we celebrate the National Year of Reading and explore what Leicester’s libraries have to offer. The walk begins at the University of Leicester’s David Wilson Library, continues to De Montfort University’s Kimberlin Library, and concludes at Leicester Central Library.
At each stop, enjoy a short, guided look inside the library buildings and hear from members of the library teams about their services, collections, and how you can access and use them. Participants will also have the chance to view current exhibitions along the route.
The final stop at Leicester Central Library includes a viewing of Ayana’s Mural, a stunning new artwork celebrating children’s literature, created in memory of Leicester schoolchild Ayana. Come along to discover new spaces, learn about local library resources, and celebrate the joy of reading across the city.

The form is for adults only, children are not required to complete it.

- On cooler days wear appropriate layers and a coat/jacket
- On hot days wear sun protection (hat, sun screen)
- Please bring a bottle of water with you, especially in warm weather.
Group size
Booking is required, so we can keep the group size manageable.
