About this Event
One night. Eight choirs. One shared moment.
The University Gospel Choir of the Year (UGCY) returns for its live finals, bringing together outstanding university gospel choirs from across the UK. What happens on this stage goes beyond competition. It’s about faith expressed through sound, choirs stretching themselves, and students stepping into a moment that could shape their year.
Founded in 2011 by Lorraine Wright MBE, UGCY has grown into one of the most recognised platforms for student gospel choirs nationwide. Over time, it has become a space where excellence is expected, leadership is tested, and voices are allowed to grow, influenced by the roots of gospel and its evolving sound.
Each finalist choir will deliver a performance in front of a respected panel of gospel music judges, with a live audience creating the intensity that only a finals night can bring. Every choir arrives with its own sound, and every performance carries weight.
This year’s finals are presented by AStepFWD, a multimedia platform supporting Christian and Gospel creatives across the UK and beyond. Now marking ten years of impact, AStepFWD is known for curating the UK Christian Charts and delivering initiatives such as the StepFWD Awards, the iMPACT Conference, the Artist Relief Fund, and international creative projects that continue to influence the wider scene.
Whether you’re supporting your university or simply want to experience gospel music in a live setting, the UGCY finals offer an evening people will be talking about long after the final note is sung. Be there!
