This Tipsy Scholars lecture explores universal design is about building a world where no one has to ask for an invitation. When we proactively remove barriers in our classrooms, offices, and city streets, we move away from accommodating and into inclusion: creating an environment where everyone can thrive. Join me in thinking about how we can model the intentionality of design in our own lives so everyone is considered.

Sarah Hawn is a Special Education and Guidance Specialist with 18 years of experience teaching in diverse settings (CHEO, Youville Centre, specialized programs within schools, elementary and secondary classrooms, Gifted programs, Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa). She owns her own business (Sarah Hawn Educational Consulting) and her mission is to provide resources for families of diverse learners in order for them to be successul in school systems.
