About this Event
The Unity Gathering is a commemoration of the 160th anniversary of the Creek Treaty of 1866, a defining moment that reshaped the future of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and the Freedmen whose rights were affirmed through that agreement. This event brings together all individuals who descend from those listed on the Final Dawes Rolls regardless of classification as well as community members who wish to honor, learn from, and celebrate this shared history.
The gathering creates space for reflection, cultural expression, and community connection. Through historical presentations, genealogy resources, cultural exhibits, youth activities, and opportunities for families to share their stories, the event highlights the enduring legacy of the Treaty of 1866 and the generations who lived its impact. It is a day dedicated to unity, remembrance, and the recognition of all Creek families whose histories are intertwined through the Treaty of 1866, the Dawes era, the period of removal, and the generations that followed.
