This memoir stemmed from Burden’s viral “Modern Love” essay about how her husband of 20 years had an affair and left her, their three kids, and the life they’d built on Martha’s Vineyard just as lockdown began. It’s a tale of inherited wealth, marital inequality, prenups, and family history (she’s the Granddaughter of Babe Paley, Capote’s swan), and raises questions about the stories she told herself in her marriage and how her husband became a stranger.
Our book clubs are a space to enjoy talking about books and meet new people. There's usually a glass of wine too. Chloe will spend the first quartner of the book club introducing you to the new books in store and what's coming out in the next few months.
