About this Event
The suspension and censorship of NHS doctors for speaking out against the Gaza genocide is a dangerous attack on free speech and professional conscience.
Wes Streeting’s introduction of the IHRA definition of antisemitism across the NHS will impact 1.4 million workers and will be used as a tool to silence legitimate criticism of Israel and suppress pro-Palestinian voices. The overwhelming majority of the British public oppose the genocide and stand with Palestine, yet political repression is being enforced by the state.
We are delighted to be joined by our Keynote Panelist, Richard Clayton KC, who will talk on the ‘Legal Protection for Political Speech’. Richard is a well known human rights lawyer who has appeared in many important cases in England including several Supreme Court appeals, cases before the European Court of Human Rights and in many Caribbean cases including Privy Council appeals. He is the co-author of the leading Human Rights textbook and was the UK representative from 2011 to 2019 to the Council of Europe’s advisory body on constitutional law, the Venice Commission.
