About this Event
Joint forces between CoMA Manchester and UnHeard at Chorlton Art Festival!
Hidden Cabinet is a series of intimate, site-specific concerts where original classical contemporary music meets the hidden gems in the city. Each event is a one and only experience with a program shaped by the uniqueness of the venue and the way the music interacts with the physical space. Each performance explores the interplay between a range of clarinets, saxophones, electronics, and the unique character of the venue itself.
CoMA Contemporary Music For All is an all ability contemporary music ensemble. CoMA’s projects encourage participants to explore alternative approaches to playing instruments, co-creating performances through the interpretation of open scores of different kinds, and embracing flexible, inclusive practices that allow people of all levels and abilities to contribute in a shared, harmonious experience.
Joining CoMA is UnHeard, a Manchester-based collective of award-winning multi-instrumentalists, composers and artists. Dedicated to presenting original, collaborative and imaginative performances, the collective places equal creative input at the heart of its work. UnHeard’s hybridised electronic and acoustic concerts bridge classical music, popular culture, myth, interactive media, and more. Through collaboration with artists, scientists, academics and film makers, UnHeard creates an innovative blend of these influences, bringing contemporary classical music to new and different fields as well as crossover between their audiences.
